The approximate sf to the standard deviation of the angles in a triangulation network, according to the formula sf = ( ( Σ εn²) / 3N)½ , in which εn is the misclosure, in angle, of triangle n and N is the number of triangles in the network. The formula was developed by General Ferraro as a measure of the accuracy of a network. It is widely used as an estimate of the accuracy when only misclosures of triangles are available.
