велигденско јајце
Used to describe specially decorated eggs given to celebrate the Easter holiday. Christians adopted the egg as an Easter symbol because of the relationship between Easter and the renewal of life. The egg is seen as symbolic of the grave and life renewed or resurrected by breaking out of it.
Exchanging and eating Easter eggs is a popular custom in many countries. The oldest tradition is to use painted or dyed hen eggs, although the modern custom is to substitute chocolate eggs, or plastic eggs filled with confectionery.
