Poverljivost

Za prevodioce i tumače, profesionalna poverljivost je apsolutna. Ona stupa na snagu od trenutka kada prevodilac ili tumač dobije pristup informacijama klijenta i važi do kraja njegovog ili njenog života. Primenjuje se u svim slučajevima bez izuzetka. Neke države imaju ustanovljene zakone koji garantuju isti status poverljivosti klijent-prevodilac i klijent-tumač kao onaj koji uživaju lekari i advokati.
