base line
The base line is an area 3 feet either side of the chalk line that runs between the bases. A runner is not suppose to run outside the base line and if he does to avoid being tagged out or for some other reason they will be called out. An exception to this rule is, if a fielder is in the base line and the runner has to go around him so he does not interfere with a play, then he will not be called out.
