La especialidad que tiene a su cargo la salud y la enfermedad de una población o de una comunidad en particular. El objetivo es identificar los problemas de salud y las necesidades, identificar los medios a través de los cuales se pueden solucionar estas necesidades, y evaluar en qué medida los servicios sociales cumplen con estas expectativas. La medicina comunitaria se dedica a ciertas poblaciones específicas y no a personas individuales.
